Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the purpose of the free initial telephone consultation?

The initial telephone consultation allows us to get an overview of the difficulties that you are currently experiencing. We will ask some questions to better understand the main presenting difficulties. If it seems that we can help, then we will discuss whether you would like to attend for a course of therapy.

How quickly can I be seen?

We aim to see clients for an initial assessment within 7 days.

Do you work with Children?

No, we only work with 18+

What happens on our first session?

In our first session we will carry out an initial assessment, which is more in depth than this initial consultation. This will allow us to gather information in order to think through with you, the presenting difficulties and outline what you hope to gain, achieve or overcome.

How regularly should the sessions take place?

Typically, we see clients once a week. However, this is flexible and can change in line with your needs. We will constantly review this throughout the sessions, to achieve the best outcome for you.

Is everything I say confidential?

Confidentiality is a key aspect of the therapeutic relationship. Due to our duty of care, the only event that we may break confidentiality is when we are concerned that you are at risk to yourself or to others or from others, or should you mention any act of terrorism or serious crime. Only in cases of an imminent threat might we make this decision without consulting you first. However, in most other cases we will speak to you before we take any further action.

How long do appointments last?

The initial telephone consultation will last up to 15 minutes in duration. Routine sessions following this will last 50 minutes.

Are all sessions online?

Sessions will be held either online via Zoom video call or telephone.

Who should I speak to in case of an emergency?

In the event of an emergency, where you are at risk to yourself or others or from others, call 999 or go to your local Accident and Emergency Department.
